The J-labs Gołcza Race - Jurassic Classic is a hilly road cycling race around Gołcza, situated on the border between the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and the Miechów Upland. Also known as the Jurassic Classic, the name is fitting: the roads ascend and curve through Jura country, featuring short climbs, swift descents, green fields, and wind that can make exposed sections more challenging than they appear.
This is not a flat, steady ride. The route demands strength for the Jurassic climbs, sharp legs for inclines, confidence on descents, and patience as the asphalt winds onward. The race echoes the Belgian classics in spirit: somewhat rough, punchy, and focused on repeated efforts rather than cruising. Post-race, riders can cool down by the water at Przybysławice, visit the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Miechów, or continue towards Ojców and Pieskowa Skała, where limestone formations and castles mark the Eagle's Nests Trail. The local recovery plan is quite Polish: Miechów cabbage is renowned here, making bigos a fitting meal after a demanding day on the bike.
