Salamanca's running scene centers on the flat Tormes river valley and university routes through the old town, with the San Silvestre Universitaria UPSA drawing local runners each December. Cyclists dominate here: the region feeds serious distance riders into the Brevet 600 kms Amigos de la Bici and the epic Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, while Entre Campos de la Armuña BTT offers gravel and mountain bike racing through the undulating meseta terrain just outside the city. The landscape is gently rolling plateau at 800m elevation, making Salamanca a hub for brevets and randonneurs crossing central Spain rather than a climbing destination.
