Blair Regional YMCA October Race Series
GIO OTT 1
The Raven
DOM OTT 4
The Raven is an autumn trail race in the Seven Mountains area of Bald Eagle State Forest, Pennsylvania, offering 10K and half marathon courses through Poe Valley. The 10K covers approximately 6.4 miles with about 1,500 feet of elevation gain, and the half marathon spans roughly 13.6 miles with around 2,900 feet of gain. This is a challenging trail event, distinct from a road race with some unpaved sections. The course features remote singletrack, passable doubletrack, steep ascents, rocky climbs, stream crossings, scenic overlooks, and extended quiet forest sections. It is designed for experienced trail runners, though well-prepared hikers are welcome if they understand the terrain. Aid stations are provided for both distances, with one on the 10K at Mountain Church and three along the half marathon route. The Edgar Allan Poe theme is present in the race name, the Raven finisher awards, the dark-pine Poe Valley environment, and a post-race gathering for sharing experiences or reciting poetry. Following the race, participants receive kettle-served ham and bean soup, with a vegetarian alternative available. The event contributes to scholarships, local trail maintenance, and community initiatives.
Rowe's Research Runners Annual Event
DOM OTT 18
Rowe’s Research Runners Annual Event is a walk, run, and roll fundraiser in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, with a virtual option for those unable to attend in person. The in-person gathering uses the Pennsylvania Military Museum as its base, and the event supports research into ME/CFS, dysautonomia, long COVID, and related illnesses. This is the ninth annual edition, and registration does not include a T-shirt; shirts and extra merchandise are sold separately. The event originated from Emily Steffensmeier’s birthday fundraiser and her desire to thank Dr. Peter Rowe, the physician who helped her transition from being bedridden toward a fuller life. Rowe’s Research Runners collaborates with Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and all money raised goes directly to Dr. Rowe and his colleagues at the Chronic Fatigue and Related Disorders Clinic. The cause is personal and medical: Emily has lived with these conditions for 24 years, and the event focuses on fundraising, awareness, and connection for patients and families managing illnesses that can affect the nervous system, immune function, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, and daily energy.
End of the Road Half Marathon & One Tunnel 4 Miler
SAB OTT 24
End of the Road takes runners onto the abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike near Waterfall, Pennsylvania. The main attractions are miles of old highway and long, dark tunnels. This October race weekend includes a half marathon and the One Tunnel 4 Miler, offering runners a choice between 13.1 miles or a shorter route that still passes through tunnels. The 4 Miler is also suitable for walkers and less experienced runners seeking a distance beyond a 5K but less than a half marathon. The half marathon features approximately five miles of tunnel running, followed by rolling rural roads, quiet pavement, mountain vistas, and peak autumn foliage. Runners will go through two turnpike tunnels illuminated by headlamps and glow sticks. This section runs on a road that was bypassed when traffic was rerouted from the old highway. The weekend also presents challenge options: the Road Rambler Challenge consists of two half marathons over consecutive days, while the Tunnel Traveler Challenge combines the half marathon with the 4 Miler. A pre-race Movie Night on the Turnpike enhances the vintage road ambiance.
Tiadaghton Trail Challenge
SAB NOV 14
The Tiadaghton Trail Challenge begins and ends at the Tiadaghton State Forest Resource Management Center near Waterville, Pennsylvania. This yearly trail race in Pine Creek Valley offers a half marathon and a 10K for participants seeking rocky singletrack, steep ascents, and a woodland course over road racing. The course incorporates singletrack, old wagon roads, quarry grades, and forest roads winding through hemlock and oak stands, revealing valley vistas. Hundreds of trail runners have participated in recent years. Aid stations are stocked, awards are given, and the 10K winner receives a prize axe. Tracy Kemmerer directs the race, established to commemorate her late son.
Nittany Valley Half-Marathon
DOM DIC 6
The Nittany Valley Half-Marathon is a 13.1-mile road race in State College, Pennsylvania, starting at 10 AM on a Sunday. It has been a fixture on the local running schedule since 1984, originating with the last Nittany Valley Marathon. The event attracts hundreds of participants annually, giving it the feel of a community half marathon rather than a large urban race. The course winds through State College, offering a road half marathon within the Nittany Valley region. Results are categorized by age group, accommodating participants ranging from club runners and local regulars to individuals challenging themselves at the half-marathon distance. The race benefits Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Centre County's sole free clinic, which offers medical, dental, behavioral health, case management, and medication support to uninsured residents.

Informazioni sulle gare di Half Marathon a State College
