50th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run

Sandy Claws Beach Run is a Sarasota beach race on Siesta Beach, with a 5K on the sand, a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk for all ages, and a Virtual 5K for people who want to run or walk elsewhere. Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources hosts it, and the event is in its 50th year. The 5K uses the hard-packed sand of Siesta Beach, so runners get a firm beach surface instead of a road course. The race is sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club and counts in the MTC Race Series, which gives it a place on the local club calendar.
