The Lake to Lake 10k begins at Lake Mirror in Lakeland, Florida, guiding participants through a city centered on water. This marks the 50th year for the race, making it Polk County's oldest annual event. The Lakeland Runners Club, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting running and fitness for all ages and abilities, organizes the event, which features both the 10k and a Stroller Rider race. The certified 10k route follows residential streets and paved paths around Lakeland's chain of lakes, passing three lakes and the historic Lake Morton area. A notable local feature is the passage by Lake Morton, where Lakeland's swans can be seen. Walkers are accommodated with a 16:00 min/mile minimum pace, and chip timing provides a standard road-race experience. The Denis L Fontaine Foundation has sponsored the race since 1994, with proceeds benefiting the YMCA of Central Florida.
