La BETTY ZANE DAYS 5K apre il Betty Zane Festival con una 5K serale al City Park di Martins Ferry, Ohio. La corsa/camminata parte alle 18:00. C'è anche un'opzione solo per chi cammina, che parte due minuti dopo, così separano subito i runner dai camminatori allo start.
La gara parte e arriva dal parco sulla South Zane Highway, è un percorso compatto, molto "da festa di paese". L'iscrizione costa poco, ci sono premi di categoria, e tutti i ricavati vanno alla squadra di cross-country di Martins Ferry. Insomma, l'evento ha un chiaro scopo sportivo-scolastico, non è solo il via ai festeggiamenti.
