Bright Ideas 5K

The Bright Ideas 5K is a run/walk held at Cypress Gardens in the Lowcountry. Its certified 5K course features mixed terrain and includes the road leading into the gardens. This event functions as a community fundraiser, with each entry benefiting Berkeley Electric Cooperative's Bright Ideas Education Grant Program, which assists local teachers in funding innovative classroom projects. The event is now in its sixth year and has surpassed expectations for casual registration, selling out weeks in advance with over 500 sign-ups and 474 finishers crossing the line under the large red arch at Cypress Gardens. Due to limited parking at the gardens, participants are encouraged to carpool, arrive early, or use a shuttle service from the remote Celanese lot. The entrance road is closed prior to the start to accommodate the athletes. Packet pickup is available the day before at Fleet Feet in Carnes Crossroads, as well as on race morning at Cypress Gardens.
