Fresno Turkey Trot

The Fresno Turkey Trot brings together runners and walkers at Woodward Park on Thanksgiving morning. A chip-timed 5K run/walk and an untimed 2-mile walk begin at 8 a.m. Sierra Challenge Express presents the event, which has been a fixture on Fresno’s running schedule for over 25 years. A virtual option and a free race for children ages 0 to 4 are also available, allowing families to participate in a brief holiday activity instead of a lengthy race commitment. The morning is closely linked to local philanthropy. Registrations and contributions benefit the Central California Food Bank, and the race also provides funding for the Coach Ray Knight Youth and Scholarship Programs, supporting student-athletes throughout the Central Valley. Participants are given a long-sleeve Thanksgiving shirt, a finisher’s medal, and a post-race snack. This offers the event the character of a community holiday tradition as much as a fitness competition. Discounts for group registration encourage families, teams, and groups of friends to register together.
