Log 250 for America's 250 is a self-paced mileage challenge on and around the Fox River National Water Trail through Kane County, Illinois. Participants accumulate mileage over time by hiking, biking, running, walking, rolling, or paddling, with goals set at 75, 125, or 250 miles. This event aligns with the America's 250 Challenge and Elgin's local America 250 narrative.
The available routes encompass 40 miles of river and shoreline trails, over 400 miles of interconnected land trails, and access to the 158-mile Fox River water trail. With more than 27 public access points, participants can select their preferred pace and activity mix. The trail crosses prairies, forests, farmland, bluffs, and riverside towns offering dining, historic sites, and cultural attractions. Distances achieved by finishers are recognized with rewards: a lapel pin for 75 miles, a royal blue tee for 125 miles, and a custom medal for 250 miles.
