Informazioni su questa gara
Moran Cross is a cyclocross race held at Moran Middle School in Wallingford, Connecticut, serving as race #6 in the PMCX Series. The Laurel Bicycle Club and Moran Middle School Cycling Team organize it on school grounds, with a layout designed to keep racers and spectators near the action. The race village is situated close to the course, featuring tents, an announcer, a DJ, a podium, food trucks, pit access, portable toilets, and locker rooms. PMCX also provides a free pre-race clinic for women, non-binary riders, and juniors.
The course begins on pavement, ascends past the start/finish line, and then directs riders through grass turns in a ball field before descending into quicker, rougher sections. Its primary feature is a wooded hillside climb that intensifies in steepness, with hard-packed dirt, dust, small rocks, and turns that interrupt the effort. Riders then navigate a loose descent with tight, dusty corners, a brief sand pit near the base, barriers, and approximately 200 feet of climbing per lap. NYC racers attend this PMCX round in significant numbers, and the event embodies a typical Connecticut cyclocross day: compact, dusty, noisy near the tents, and easily viewable from multiple locations.
