Orlando's running and cycling scene revolves around the flat terrain of central Florida—most local routes stick to parks and lakes around the city, but serious cyclists head 50km northwest to Mount Dora, where the Cycle Mount Dora events (16km and 113km options) tackle the rare rolling hills of the region. Trail runners escape the heat into the Ocala National Forest south and east of the city, where the Sawmill Trail Runs and Suffer Better Fall Trail Runs offer sustained elevation gain rarely found in metro Orlando itself.
