Informazioni su questa gara
The Hennepin Hundred is a flat ultramarathon on the Hennepin Canal State Trail in northwest Illinois, held in October from Sterling to Colona. Participants can select from 50K, 50 miles, 100 miles, or a 100-mile relay. The event is promoted as Illinois' sole point-to-point, all-trail ultra.
The 100-mile course gains approximately 1,000 feet. Consequently, many runners aim for their first 100-mile finish, a personal best time, or a Western States qualifier. The route crosses Illinois' longest multi-use trail, passing historic canal locks, lift bridges, farms, cornfields, and small communities. Around 150 volunteers, many of whom are ultrarunners themselves, provide support. Ornery Mule Racing organizes the race, which also benefits Bigger Than The Trail, a nonprofit linking trail running with mental health resources.
