Turkey Trot Prediction Run

Informazioni su questa gara
The Turkey Trot Prediction Run is a Thanksgiving Day 10K in Columbia, Maryland. It starts and finishes at Jeffers Hill Neighborhood Center on Tamar Drive and is organized by Howard County Striders. The unique aspect is that speed is not the objective; runners aim to finish as close to 11:00 a.m. as possible. Participants select their own start time, and the runner whose finish time is closest to the 11:00 a.m. target wins. Because timing devices are prohibited, pacing relies on feel, judgment, and an accurate internal clock.
The route follows an out-and-back path from Jeffers Hill down Tamar Drive toward Lake Elkhorn. Participants then run counterclockwise around the lake before returning via the same path. The total distance is approximately 10K, with about 265 feet of elevation gain and descent. The course was modified due to underpass construction that affected the previous route. Registration is available on race day only, with a straightforward on-site signup using laptops. Fees are modest for students and individuals. Strollers, headphones, iPods, and animals are not permitted, ensuring the event concentrates on runners' ability to read the course and their own pacing. Proceeds benefit the Tripp Scholar Athlete Fund.
