The Wein-Berg-Lauf Neckenmarkt begins and ends at the Winzergenossenschaft on Harkauerweg in Neckenmarkt, a wine village in Burgenland. This late-May Saturday event centers on a 10 km mountain run with approximately 300 to 350 meters of elevation gain, organized by Leichtathletik Mittelburgenland. Alongside the main race, there is a 4.6 km Cross Country Fun Run, a 2 km junior cross-country race, and a 600 m children’s run, catering to young runners, juniors, casual adults, and experienced mountain runners.
The 10 km route incorporates asphalt, field roads, forest paths, and vineyard sections, offering more diversity than a straightforward road ascent. Age categories range from U20 to AK70+, and the shorter races provide an accessible entry for local families and developing runners. The event is a fixture in the international Austrian Mountain Running Cup and also serves as the venue for the Burgenland State Championship in mountain running, attracting both regional contenders aiming for titles and participants seeking a concise wine-country hill race.
