The Friedenslicht-Lauf is a charity run in Kremsmünster, Austria, held annually just before Christmas since 2002. The athletics section of TuS Kremsmünster organizes the event, combining running with local charity: donations benefit Licht ins Dunkel, an Austrian campaign supporting those in need.
The event centers on the Friedenslicht, the Christmas “light of peace,” making it distinct from a standard road race. Participants can opt for a running experience, a relay, or the marathon distance. The torch-run concept conveys a peace message throughout the event. Gerhard Gruber of Kremsmünster originated the idea, and the format integrates sport, community, fundraising, and the Christmas peace symbol.
