The Salzburger Sparkasse Fanningbergtrail begins in Mauterndorf, Austria, taking runners directly from town into a 44 km trail race covering 2,315 meters of elevation gain. This is the most challenging route offered, starting early and featuring cutoffs at Mariapfarr, St. Andrä, Lessach, and Prebersee before the afternoon finish.
The course crosses Mauterndorf’s historic center, goes by Mauterndorf Castle, and ascends through Stampfl and St. Gertrauden towards Fanningberg. It then follows forest trails, rooty switchbacks, meadows, and high paths above the Taurachtal, with stops including Mariapfarr, Wiesberg, Vordereck, Wildbachhütte, Lessach, and Prebersee. The concluding Panoramatrail combines singletrack and forest roads leading to a downhill finish at Ludlalm. The race is also available as a relay.
