Wachau Trail 2026

The Wachau Trail guides runners and strong hikers through Austria’s Wachau region, with all distances concluding in Stadtpark in Krems an der Donau. Its most challenging listed route is the Wachau101, a 100.4 km ultra trail from Aggsbach Dorf to Krems, featuring 3,886 m of elevation gain and 3,921 m of loss. The course crosses the Wachau UNESCO World Heritage site, incorporating singletrack trails within the dense Dunkelsteinerwald forests. The 101 km event is limited to 120 participants and includes eight aid stations, with a 21-hour time limit for runners. Hikers have an extended limit, though the race instructions specify this option is reserved for experienced, swift walkers.
