Brisbane Road Runners Race & Ekiden Relay

The South Brisbane Sailing Club serves as the starting and finishing point, with runners beginning and ending by Hill End Terrace in West End before heading out on a loop alongside the Brisbane River. The Brisbane Road Runners Race & Ekiden Relay is part of a regular series held every second Sunday, giving it more of a club-race atmosphere than a large-scale event. Participants can register, attach their bib, complete their run, and finish early. The course is straightforward and consistent, beneficial for those who prefer predictability each lap. The Ekiden format introduces a unique element: teams of two to six runners share an eight-lap relay, while individual runners select from various running events and must finish their chosen distance within the allotted time. Following the race, practical advantages include access to clubhouse facilities, nearby supporters, and shaded areas under large trees.
