Lang Park PCYC on Castlemaine St in Milton serves as the starting point for a Friday night metrogaine through the CBD, with teams departing under the “Friday night lights.” Now in its thirteenth year, the Urban Rogue maintains its character as a local race where serious runners and families can use the same map without the pretense of undertaking identical challenges.
The objective is straightforward: "navigate to collect as many check points as possible," with participants deciding how much distance to cover in the cooler summer evening. Expect Q and A style checkpoints, a traditional rogaine scoring system, the need for torches or headlamps for map reading, and a digital camera or phone for a specific checkpoint. Children under 15 participate for free, and a portion of each entry fee benefits Lang Park PCYC youth initiative programs.
