Altona Beach foreshore keeps this one simple: a club summer-series triathlon based around the Surf Life Saving Club, Port Phillip Bay, and the "iconic Altona Pier." WSTC Triathlon Series: Race 2 has the feel of a practical weekly hit-out rather than a big-show production, with kids, first-time triathletes, nervous swimmers, and seasoned athletes all mixing in.
You swim in calm bay waters around the pier, then settle into a "multi-loop bike ride on the Esplanade" on a flat, traffic-controlled route. The run is a "run along the Esplanade pathway" on the picturesque foreshore pathway, with sea breezes and supportive spectators doing just enough to keep the legs moving. It is beginner-friendly, but it also works as a perfect training race if you just want an honest, fast morning by the water.
