Belair to Athelstone along the Yurrebilla Trail forms the core of this event, finishing at Foxfield Oval. The course traverses the western slopes of the Adelaide Hills, passing through National Parks and Conservation Reserves below Mt Lofty summit. The Yurrebilla Ultra Trail Run offers a genuine bush experience, distinct from a formal road race. It is sufficiently exposed for competition, yet proximity to roads and fire tracks ensures support is always accessible.
Expect a constantly evolving trail surface. The route features scenic vistas, dramatic gorges, and natural elements like waterfalls, wildlife, and wildflowers that can momentarily distract from the exertion. It caters to runners aiming for a fast pace, as well as those undertaking their first ultra-marathon, with aid stations positioned along the way. The defining characteristic is this equilibrium: attentive runner support without compromising the challenge of a distinctive bush trail.
