The Bosmarathon begins and ends in Buggenhout, a town in East Flanders, Belgium, directing runners into and through Buggenhoutbos. The series includes a half marathon of 21.0975 km and has also featured the full marathon distance of 42.195 km, with the event focusing on road running alongside trail sections.
The course combines paved roads with unpaved forest paths, offering runners a varied surface compared to a typical city race. Lebbeekse AC assists with organization, and proceeds benefit good causes. The race originated in 2009 as a fundraiser for three local Buggenhout associations, and the marathon course later gained World Athletics approval. Its records show Belgian champions in the marathon, half marathon, and relay marathon categories.
