La Course aux Flambeaux
La Course aux Flambeaux lets you run with fire, lighting up the night. Dash through the darkness, guided by torches, in a memorable evening that becomes a torch parade.
Les Crêtes de l'Olive Morlanwelz
La Course du Bois du Cazier
La Course du Bois du Cazier begins at the Bois du Cazier in Charleroi, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Hainaut, Belgium. This event offers mixed road and trail running, with adult races around 6 km and 16 km, and children's runs of 500 meters and 1 km. The shorter adult course is just over 6 km, and the longer one is a little over 16 km, meaning the listed distances are approximate.
The route departs the historic mining site, passing through Marcinelle via paved sections, slag heaps (terrils), and forest paths. Portions of the course overlook Charleroi, providing more variety than a typical city road race. The event accommodates both adults and children. Adult participants receive a bib, electronic timing, aid stations on the course and at the finish, a medal, and a raffle entry. Children get a bib, a snack at the finish, and a medal.
Festirun Flawinne
Festirun Flawinne is a small road-running event in Namur, Belgium, located at Rue Camille Charlier 11A in the Flawinne area. It takes place in October and features paved races ranging from 1 km to 10 km, suitable for children, adults, beginners, and those seeking a short, intense effort.
The primary distances are 10 km and 5 km, with Kids Runs of 3 km and 1 km. The course consists of asphalt or paved road and includes some elevation changes: the 10 km has 120 meters of climbing, the 5 km has 60 meters, the 3 km Kids Run has 20 meters, and the 1 km Kids Run has 10 meters. Each distance is limited to 300 participants, and late registration on-site is permitted only if spots remain, with an additional fee.
La nocturne du Val Joly - Eppe-Sauvage
La Nocturne du Val Joly is a night trail and Nordic walking event held in Eppe-Sauvage, located in the Nord department of Hauts-de-France, close to the Val Joly area. The event takes place in mid-October and features two short off-road routes: a 10 km trail run and an 8 km Nordic walk.
The 10 km trail is the primary running event and the most attended option. Both routes are designed as single loops, providing participants with one full circuit instead of multiple laps. The prior event attracted over 200 participants, creating an atmosphere akin to a community autumn night gathering rather than a major urban competition.
La Nocturne du ValJoly
La Nocturne du ValJoly begins at 7:30 PM from the ValJoly tourist village in Eppe-Sauvage, Hauts-de-France, near the Belgian border. This autumn night event features a 10 km trail run and an 8 km Nordic walk, both as single loops through the forests surrounding ValJoly. Taking place in the Avesnois region, beside the largest lake north of Paris, the race offers a forest-and-lake excursion after dark, distinct from a town road race.
The 10 km trail is the primary event, attracting over 200 participants in past years. The Nordic walk is presented as a gourmet walk, with food stops enhancing the social aspect. The trail is open to participants from the Cadets age group upwards, and runners must provide proof of fitness for competitive running. Organized by Vert Marine, the event has seen several editions and maintains the character of a compact local night race rather than a large festival.
Relais de Vauban - Maubeuge
Relais de Vauban is a 16 km team relay in Maubeuge, a town in northern France near the Belgian border. The race runs in the city centre around Vauban’s historic ramparts, and it is built around a simple format: three runners each cover a 4 km lap, then the team runs the final 4 km together. It has usually been held around the autumn holiday period, with a move toward October for the next edition.
The course is a short city circuit rather than a point-to-point route, so teams return to the same area as the relay changes hands. Its setting gives runners old fortifications, urban streets, and green spaces in one compact loop. Maubeuge Marathon organizes the event, with aid stations and changing rooms on site. The field is aimed at mixed local teams, club runners, casual runners, and people who want a shared race rather than a solo effort.
10 km de givet
The 10 km de Givet is a 10 km road race held in late February in Givet, a town in the Ardennes area of France’s Grand Est region. Participants begin at the Stade at 11:00 AM, running through town streets rather than on trails or a rural loop.
The event is also known locally as the corrida de Givet, attracting both novice and seasoned runners. Recent record participation led organizers to increase the entry capacity. The race maintains its focus on a welcoming town atmosphere, careful planning, and a course suitable for various skill levels.
Corrida de Givet
Corrida de Givet is a 10 km road race in Givet, in the Ardennes, with the finish at Stade Berthelot. The main race is FFA-labeled and uses a three-loop course described by organizers as fast-rolling, so it suits runners looking for a measured, road-focused effort rather than a trail day. The event is run in late winter and is organized by GRAC Athlétisme and the City of Givet.
The route starts on rue du Souvenir Français, runs through city streets, follows parts of Givet’s Meuse-side setting, and ends back at the stadium. The race is still young, with its eighth edition coming up, but demand is growing: it recently set a participation record, and the 10 km field limit has been raised to 800 runners. Families are part of the day too, with free children’s races over 400 m, 800 m, and 1 km.
Trail du Val Joly - Eppe-Sauvage
Trail du Val Joly takes place in early March at Eppe-Sauvage, in France's Nord department, centered on the ValJoly tourist village and lake. Participants can select from 35 km, 26 km, 18 km, and 10 km trail races, alongside a 9 km hike and Nordic walking along the course. The longer races feature significant elevation changes: the 35 km route includes 560 m of climbing, the 26 km has 460 m, the 18 km has 340 m, and the 10 km has 130 m. Entry numbers are limited, partly to preserve the Natura 2000 area, with distinct caps for each distance and a prohibition on dogs.
The race begins in the tourist village center, ascends the station steps, and then leads runners through undulating terrain before reaching Lac du ValJoly around the 6 km mark. Subsequent sections traverse toward the Riau Trouble stream, Sainte-Hiltrude chapel, and open fields, with paths winding past old bunkers and blockhouses from pre-WWII fortifications. The terrain varies frequently, incorporating trails, dunes, cobblestones, hills, forest tracks, and slag heaps, making the event suitable for runners seeking varied footing over a flat, fast course. It is organized with the Nord Athletics Committee and is included in the Nord Evasion challenge, where completing a designated race awards a virtual medal piece towards a final medal.
Les foulées de Louvroil
Les Foulées de Louvroil features two trail races in Louvroil, located in the Nord department of Hauts-de-France. Taking place in early March, the event provides two options: a 5.7 km trail and a 10 km trail. These distances cater to runners seeking a brief off-road challenge and those desiring a more extended local competition.
The 10 km race is the more popular choice, attracting over 200 participants in the last edition. The 5.7 km race saw more than 100 runners, contributing to the series' intimate community atmosphere, distinct from large-scale urban events.
Trail de la Transylvestre - Montbliart
Trail de la Transylvestre is a forest trail event in Montbliart, Wallonia, offering three off-road distances: 6.5 km, 10 km, and 20 km. The short route features 129 meters of elevation gain, suitable for runners seeking an introductory trail experience. The 10 km course includes 213 meters of climbing, and the 20 km route has 383 meters, allowing participants to select a brief nature run or a more extended challenge on undulating woodland paths.
The race utilizes accessible yet diverse woodland trails, with sufficient elevation to engage the legs without becoming a mountain challenge. Podium places are awarded for men and women, and a 200 euro gift card is also offered. All participants receive a souvenir bracelet, official photos will be available, and the event t-shirt can be purchased. Food and beverages are provided on-site, contributing to a local trail gathering atmosphere at the finish rather than a basic start-and-go event.
