GR Provincie Trail Antwerpen
The GR Provincie Trail Antwerpen is a trail run held in October in Kruibeke, within the Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht area of East Flanders, Belgium. It utilizes a section of a GR long-distance walking path and provides two distances: a marathon and a half marathon. With a field limited to 40 participants, this event emphasizes navigation and a more intimate setting over a large-scale competition.
The course is marked according to GR standards, with a GPX file provided the week prior as a supplementary guide. Aid stations are cup-free and located approximately every 10 km, requiring participants to carry their own hydration vessels. Electronic timing is employed. Marathon finishers receive a medal, and half marathon participants have the option to receive one. For those without a device to load the GPX, GPS watch rentals are available. The event also includes unique elements such as a WUK beer package and a natural prize for specific runners who collect Belgium puzzle pieces.
Foulées Halluinoises
Foulées Halluinoises is a town road-race series held in Halluin, located in the Nord department of Hauts-de-France. The next edition is scheduled for early October. The primary events are standard 5 km and 10 km races. The organizer also includes races for children and juniors, catering to multiple age groups and skill levels.
Both adult races follow a single-loop course through the town, with one loop for the 5 km and one loop for the 10 km. The 10 km is the more popular distance, but the 5 km also attracted over 100 participants in the last edition. This ensures both races offer a genuine local-race atmosphere without feeling overwhelmingly large.
Brandweer TRAIL
The Brandweer TRAIL begins and ends at the Zottegem fire station on Meengracht in Belgium. This local trail run, organized by the Zottegem fire station, offers distances of 5 km, 12 km, or 25 km. The event takes place in autumn, with a start window open through the morning, allowing participants to set off between 8:30 AM and noon rather than a single fixed start time.
The routes follow the slow lanes, paths, and rural roads surrounding Zottegem, keeping the race contained near the fire station. The entry fee covers course refreshments and a goodie bag, contributing to the event's straightforward community-race atmosphere. Its distinctive feature is the fire-station start and finish, where runners begin and conclude at the active base of the organizers.
Donkmeerloop De Mooiste Halve
Donkmeerloop De Mooiste Halve is a road race held at Festival Hall Donkmeer in Berlare, East Flanders. The start and finish are on Donklaan, adjacent to the lake. The race offers 6 km, 12 km, and half marathon distances, and is scheduled for autumn. Jente Samson, the Flanders Project Team, the municipality of Berlare, and the Province of East Flanders organize the event. It has been held for 11 consecutive editions, expanding from 450 participants in its first year to over 2,000, with fields now sold out.
The courses traverse the Donkmeer area, the old duck decoy, and Nieuwdonk. This ensures even the shorter distances offer the same lake-and-park environment as the half marathon. Half marathon participants can utilize seven pacers, identifiable by orange shirts, aiming for finish times between 1:20 and 2:10. Past editions featured the Belgian Championship, charity runs, and support for a children's heart fund. The race maintains practical amenities: aid stations on each lap, electronic timing, changing facilities and showers at the start/finish, medals for all finishers, a finisher drink, and trophies awarded.
Feesteloop Avelgem
Feesteloop Avelgem is a traffic-free running event in Avelgem, West Flanders, held every two years. It runs concurrently with the Feesteworpstoet. Runners can participate in youth races of 500 metres and 1,000 metres, or in the 5 km, 10 km, or a team event where one runner completes 5 km and two teammates each run 2.5 km.
The route passes through Avelgem's centre and incorporates lighting in the Schelde meersen, with music and entertainment provided along and around the course. NLT organizes the race, with the race office located in Foyer Spikkerelle. Past editions have attracted enough runners to strain the chip-timing system; one edition had 836 starters, for which fewer chips and numbers had been prepared.
Firerun Deinze
Firerun Deinze is an evening run in Deinze, Belgium, organized by VZW Vriendenkring Brandweer Deinze, the friends’ association of the local fire brigade. It offers 5 km and 10 km races, both starting at 19:30, plus a walking option shortly after. The race mixes road running with park paths; runners should bring a headlamp or running light because parts of the route are dark. It is open to everyone, with electronic timing, refreshments at the finish, and a refreshment point after 5 km.
The route starts at the KMSK Deinze parking lot, goes over the AC Deinze athletics track, then heads onto the wooded paths of Brielmeersen. From there it links toward the Deinze marina, passes the town hall, and finishes through Kaandelpark at the fire station parking lot. The event incorporates its fire-brigade setting: fire, music, and light effects are part of the evening, and the finish area includes live music, a free afterparty, a bar with soup, and a chip stand. Around 335 participants have been recorded, making it feel local and busy without becoming a huge mass race.
Run & bike de Soignies
Beatrun Waregem
Beatrun Waregem is an evening road race in Waregem, Flanders, offering 5 km and 10 km distances. It is designed for runners seeking a relaxed event over a strictly timed race, featuring music along the route and an informal atmosphere that encourages participation.
The course is straightforward based on available details: participants select either the shorter or longer road distance within the city. The event emphasizes its social aspect, with opportunities for people to run together, company teams to participate, and an afterparty to extend the evening after the finish.
AVR Run
The AVR Run offers three race options: a Kidsrun, a 3.5 km AVR FUN-RUN, and a 10.5 km AVR-RUN. Race-day administration is at the MSKA cafeteria, with bib pickup starting at 13:00. Specific town or season details were not provided.
The event provides distances instead of a route map, allowing participants to choose between the short fun run, the longer 10.5 km run, or the separate children’s race. Registration is managed through Running Results, and online entry is recommended for quicker bib pickup. Teams need to register in advance. The rules state that runners are responsible for ensuring they are in good physical condition on race day.
Bossen van Vlaanderen Trail
The Bossen van Vlaanderen Trail is a trail race held in and around Aalter, offering distances of 50 km, 30 km, 21 km, and 10 km. The course utilizes forest paths, ensuring that even the shorter distances are off-road. The organizer provides time-limit suggestions based on distance, and the race features electronic timing with intermediate splits.
The route incorporates several private passages accessible only on race day, granting runners access to normally restricted sections. Aid stations are available on the course, with monitored baggage, changing rooms, and showers at the start/finish area. The event also implements environmental considerations, such as reusable cups and wooden finisher medals.
Les Hivernales du RCB
Les Hivernales du RCB is a timed winter running race in Watermael-Boitsfort, located in the south-eastern part of Brussels. It features three course options of approximately 10, 20, and 39 kilometers. The start and finish points are typically situated at the International School of Brussels. The race route incorporates sections of the Soignes Forest, utilizing unpaved paths, making it a forest road-and-trail event rather than a flat city race.
The shortest race is advertised as 10 km, though its actual length may be closer to 9.2 km. Race organizers note that official distances are subject to change. The initial kilometers are relatively flat before the course presents challenges: a sustained climb of about 1.2 km at a 5% gradient, followed by an 800-meter descent, additional smaller ascents, and a final 400-meter uphill stretch preceding a downhill finish. Both licensed and non-licensed participants are permitted. The event's guidelines are straightforward: adhere to course markings, show consideration for fellow runners, and confine litter to designated aid-station zones.
Corrida du Sacré-Coeur - Écaussines
The Corrida du Sacré-Coeur is a Friday-evening road race held in Écaussinnes, Hainaut, Belgium. It starts at the École du Sacré-Coeur on Rue du Flou. The primary distances offered are 5 km and 10 km, with additional 800 m and 1.6 km races for younger participants.
Runners begin from Place Cousin. The event is designed for children, casual joggers, club runners, and individuals seeking a brief local race following their workday. Now in its twentieth edition, the Corrida du Sacré-Coeur is listed in the Atlas des Joggings et Marathons de Belgique. It attracts hundreds of participants and concludes with refreshments, a post-work social gathering, and occasional live music.
