The Hut Hop Race is a team trail event starting from September Hut on Vitosha, above Sofia. Participants navigate with a map, not a marked course. Teams begin in the morning and have four hours to accumulate points by reaching mountain huts in the vicinity. Each hut offers a distinct point value; more difficult or distant huts yield higher scores. Consequently, the race combines running, route selection, and time management.
Two teammates must remain together throughout the event, verifying each hut visit with a selfie of both individuals before it. The final standings are determined by total points, with elapsed time used for tie-breaking. Teams exceeding the control time will not be included in the results. The organizer, Sports Club Balkaniada, is active in trail running, mountain running, skyrunning, athletics, and orienteering in Bulgaria, hosting events that attract both experienced and novice runners from Bulgaria and other countries.
