レースについて
Fodaxman begins with a swim in the São Bento Dam and concludes atop Morro da Igreja in Santa Catarina, Brazil. This Brazilian XTRI World Tour event, held in December, follows a long-distance format similar to an Ironman: approximately 4 km of swimming in freshwater, 176-180 km of cycling, and 39-42 km of running. The event has a limit of 150 participants, and those who finish receive XTRI points. It is intended for experienced athletes, requiring signed liability waivers, a medical certificate, and a minimum of one support crew member per athlete with a vehicle.
The course runs from Barragem do Rio São Bento in Siderópolis to Urubici, reaching an altitude of 1,818 m. The cycling segment ascends the Serra do Rio do Rastro, accumulating around 3,600-3,850 m in elevation gain, followed by the run which adds another 1,200-1,250 m to reach Morro da Igreja. Competitors may encounter temperatures ranging from 5 C to 35 C. The roads remain open to traffic, meaning support crews are responsible for navigation and nutrition during the race. A past winner, who completed Fodaxman three times, commended the event's organization, staff, and competitive atmosphere, highlighting factors that contribute to its repeat participation despite the demanding course.
