Every hour at UNFINISHED, runners begin a 6.71 km loop, returning to the same hub to rest, eat, reset, and decide their next move. The series takes place at Woodbine Beach Park on Lake Shore Boulevard East in Toronto. Its September event adapts the backyard ultra concept for an urban environment. The core structure is straightforward: run, recover, repeat.
The main Backyard Ultra format has participants run one loop each hour until one runner remains or the final Yard is reached; this can be done solo or as a team. A 15-hour Endurance format allows runners to cover maximum distance at their own pace without eliminations. Relay teams of up to eight people and a single-loop Sunshine Yard for a community-focused run are also available. The event emphasizes charity and participation, supporting partners like Trans Canada Trail and Sinai Health Foundation. Spectators and volunteers have a defined role, as all participants return to the same central area.
