The Aletsch Half-Marathon is a 21.1 km mountain race in the Swiss Alps, located within a UNESCO World Heritage area. The event spans two days: Saturday is dedicated to families, and Sunday features the half-marathon. The program also includes shorter races for various ages and abilities, such as the Gletschilauf, Aletsch Minilauf, and Aletsch Sprint.
The main course is a challenging run through high Alpine terrain, offering open views of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the four-thousand-metre peaks of Valais. Annually, up to 2,700 participants attend from Switzerland and abroad, including individual runners, groups, families, children, teenagers, and fun runners. The race emphasizes its glacier setting, distinguishing it from a standard road half marathon.
