The Allschwiler Klausenlauf is a December run in Allschwil, Basel-Landschaft, rooted in the Swiss Samichlaus tradition. Approximately 1,700 runners typically participate, positioning it as a prominent running event in Northwest Switzerland. Participants can choose between 6.6 km and 10 km runs, a 6.6 km walk or Nordic walk, and children’s and youth races of 0.85 km and 1.7 km.
The course features rolling terrain, not a flat path, with 105 meters of elevation gain. The 6.6 km race has a 1 hour 30 minute time limit. Team scoring is available for the main running distances and the children’s and youth races, allowing clubs and groups to compete collectively. At the finish, Samichlaus distributes non-cash prizes to all participants; children also receive a medal and a Grättima, a seasonal sweet bread figure. Verein Klausenlauf organizes the event, with the start and finish located near Schulhaus Gartenhof, offering public transport and parking.
