gurtenCLASSIC Rennvelo-Rundfahrt

The gurtenCLASSIC is a late-October sports day in Köniz, Switzerland, centered on the Gurten, the local mountain above Bern. The primary running event is a 15 km Classic Run, complemented by walking, a children's run, and a family Run & Win format. Participation is limited to 2,000 athletes, creating an atmosphere of a local end-of-season gathering rather than a large city marathon. Registration includes the Swiss Runners Ticket, covering public transport from home to the start in Wabern and back from the Gurten. The series also features the gurtenCLASSIC Rennvelo-Rundfahrt, a 40 km road cycling tour from Wabern to a finish atop the Gurten. This route includes seven ascents, crosses seven municipalities, utilizes quiet side roads, and offers a mountain prize at Borisried. The cycling event is capped at 350 participants and is presented as an enjoyable category ride, not exclusively for elite racers. The event has been held for over forty editions, and participant feedback indicates it serves as a satisfying season closer with sufficient variety for diverse participants.
