The Semi-marathon des Côtes de l'Orbe is a race set in the wine region of Orbe, located in the Jura-Nord Vaudois area of Switzerland's canton of Vaud, near the French border. Typically held in early September, it features a half marathon, an 11 km road race, and an 11 km walk, catering to participants of all paces. This event, now in its 15th year, has a distinctly festive atmosphere, encouraging costumes alongside running gear.
The course winds through villages and vineyard paths in the Jura foothills, with vines lining much of the route. A unique aspect is found at the aid stations, where participants can stop at "degustation" signs to sample Swiss wines offered by local vintners, alongside water. This concept is similar to France's Marathon du Medoc, which combines wine, costumes, and running, but this race is specifically set within the Côtes de l'Orbe vineyards of Vaud.
