Běh na Svatý Hostýn begins on Bystřice pod Hostýnem’s main square, sending runners 5 km uphill in Moravia’s Zlín Region, in the eastern Czech Republic. This late-summer hill race features 422 metres of climbing, starting in a small town at the base of the wooded Hostýnské vrchy hills.
The course follows roads and trails to a finish on Svatý Hostýn, a 735-metre hilltop and Marian pilgrimage site. The summit provides an unusual finish area near a basilica, an observation tower, and a wind turbine. Recent fields have typically ranged from about 150 to 250 finishers, marking it as a compact local race.
