About
Běh rodným krajem Emila Zátopka is a 22.3 km road race held in September through the home region of Emil Zátopek in the Czech Republic. It begins in Kopřivnice, Zátopek’s birthplace, close to a monument honoring him, and concludes in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The event also features shorter races for children and the general public, making the day suitable for club runners, experienced amateurs, and families, not exclusively for main-field participants.
The course departs Kopřivnice, passing through Štramberk, Ženklava, and Veřovice. It then ascends via a saddle near the Jičínka spring before arriving in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The majority of the route follows asphalt, with gravel sections in the woods. The terrain is rolling and hilly, totaling 375 meters of elevation gain. Participants can compete individually or as a relay team, integrating the Zátopek connection as a local running event centered on his origins rather than solely a historical commemoration.
