The City Cross Run & Walk begins and ends on T. G. Masaryk Square in Česká Lípa, with the motto “Through the city, yet through nature.” It takes place on the last Saturday of September, featuring a 21 km half marathon as the main event. The program also offers 3 km and 7 km runs, a 1 km family run, school relays, and a 7 km walk, catering to various participants. The three main running races require an entry fee, while the relays, family race, and walk are traditionally free.
The half marathon route departs the square, crossing city streets, park paths, and forest sections. Participants will pass the historic center, the city stadium, the ruins of Lipý water castle, Skautská skála, and Obecní les before returning to the square to finish. The 7 km race and the family run attract the largest numbers, bringing together club athletes and casual runners, with the 3 km route drawing many younger participants. Recent editions have seen over seven hundred runners participate, even in adverse weather. Past participants highlight the transition between urban roads and natural trails as a distinctive aspect of the race.
