Excalibur Race HELL Zámek Duchcov is a 6 km obstacle course race held at the state castle in Duchcov, located in the foothills of the Ore Mountains. This event is part of a full Excalibur Race weekend that includes MOON, SKY, and HELL OCR events, alongside KIDS I, KIDS II, and DOG OCRC for participants with dogs. The race center is situated by the castle staircase, with a limit of 1,000 participants for the entire weekend. Runners begin individually at 30-second intervals, ensuring a steady flow through the obstacles and creating a timed challenge atmosphere rather than a mass start.
The course crosses meadows and paths surrounding the castle grounds, offering clear views of the Ore Mountains, the Bohemian Central Highlands, and the perimeter of the Bílina mine. Adult participants can register for OCR RACE or OCR OPEN within their age groups, with additional categories for pairs and teams. The race features certified obstacles and a wristband penalty system. In OCR RACE, failing an obstacle results in losing a wristband and incurring a time penalty. OCR OPEN, DOG OCRC, and KIDS II employ a straightforward two-minute penalty for each recorded failure. KIDS I is designed to be more accessible, allowing children to retry obstacles or perform squats if they cannot complete one. Registration covers timing, course refreshments, a starter pack, photographs, a finisher medal, and access to amenities including changing rooms, showers, catering, parking, a tent village, and a children’s fun zone.
