Sršáňův běh na Smrk is a short, steep mountain trail race from Nové Město pod Smrkem to the top of Smrk in the Jizera Mountains. Runners begin at U Spálené hospody and cover 9.5 km with approximately 728 metres of elevation gain, making it a race focused on sustained uphill running rather than speed on flat terrain. The finish line is precisely located on the upper deck of the Smrk lookout tower, the highest peak on the Czech side of the range.
The course ascends around the foothills of Měděnec, descends below Rapická hora, and then climbs again toward Smrk. The majority of the route follows forest paths, footpaths, and gravel roads, with minimal asphalt sections. This event is organized by Horolezecký klub Nové Město pod Smrkem, with amenities, registration, and awards taking place at JCamp in town. A local tradition includes all participants in the awards ceremony, and those who register early receive soup with their entry fee.
