ŠumpeRUN transforms Šumperk, Czechia's historic center into a city running course in late September. Now in its eighth edition, this event caters to amateur runners, not just elites. Participants can choose a 10 km main race, a 3.33 km shorter run, or relay racing for three-person teams. All categories begin together in the afternoon from Svobody Square, which is also the finish line.
The main race consists of three laps through the city's monument zone, primarily on pedestrian streets, through parks, and along roads near Šumperk’s most recognized landmarks. The one-lap option provides a similar central-city atmosphere without the full distance, and the relay format allows teams to divide the course among three members. As the course runs through the town center, the event necessitates traffic and parking restrictions in the surrounding area.
