The Erlangen Ultramarathon begins and ends at the northwest corner of a large parking lot near the A73 underpass in Erlangen, Germany. This 50 km trail race has a fixed 9:00 group start, runs concurrently with a marathon, and limits the ultra field to 20 participants.
The course consists of two clockwise 25 km laps through the Regnitz meadows, the Main-Danube Canal area, Mönauforst, Dechsendorfer Weiher, and Markwald. It is almost entirely flat, on wide forest and bike paths, with approximately 6 km of asphalt and about 90 meters of elevation gain per lap. The route is unmarked; runners navigate using a GPX track, sign in at the start, record their own gross time, and obtain a finish time from the race timekeeper.
