The Venner Moor Ultramarathon is a loop race starting at the Venner Moor parking lot in Senden, Germany. Participants can complete one 9.1 km lap up to five laps for a total of 45.5 km. The full distance slightly exceeds marathon length, but the format accommodates those seeking 9.1 km, 18.2 km, 27.3 km, or 36.4 km on the same circuit. This is a basic event: timing is manual, course marking uses minimal red spray chalk, and runners are recommended to use the provided Garmin or Komoot track.
The loop follows a canal and crosses Venner Moor, featuring some boardwalks, bike paths, minimal asphalt, and very little elevation gain. Aid is self-provided from car trunks, as runners return to the parking lot each lap to access their own supplies. The absence of toilets, showers, or changing rooms contributes to a highly self-sufficient, local atmosphere. The course's flatness is suitable for fast running or personal best attempts; Nicole Woermann-Riedel marked her 100th marathon here.
