2. Überruhrer Adventscrosslauf

The Überruhrer Adventscrosslauf is a cross-country running event in Essen-Überruhr, held on the first Sunday of Advent in Ludwig-Kessingpark. It is run under German Athletics Federation rules and uses gross times for placing, giving it the feel of a club race despite a broad field, with categories from U8 children through M/W 80 seniors. The races follow a cross-country loop in the park, with the competition office, certificates, and award ceremonies located beside the course. Children, youth runners, adults, and seniors each have their own classifications. The top three in the youth and main classes are honored on site after the runs. The finish area is kept simple and local, with a catering stand serving cold and hot drinks. Most visitors arrive from nearby residential parking or the bus stops at Schulte-Hinsel-Straße and Heuweg.
