The Buchholzer Bahndammlauf takes place on a September day at the sports field near the Haus der Vereine in Buchholz, Rheinland-Pfalz. SV Buchholz 05's athletics section organizes the event, which includes a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, walking and Nordic walking options, and short races for children. Distances range from a 400 m Bambini lap to the 21.1 km half marathon, which has a three-hour time limit. The name references the railway embankment: the 10 km route departs the stadium and ascends gradually onto the Bahndamm via the Wahl district. The course is profiled rather than flat, set within natural surroundings near Buchholz. The event caters to families and regular runners alike. Bambini finishers receive a certificate and ice cream. Food and drinks are available on site, and a portion of each entry fee benefits a Bonn charity that supports children with cancer, leukemia, or tumor illnesses.
