The Fohlenhoflauf begins at 6:00 p.m. in front of the community center at the youth village and vocational training center in Homburg, Germany. CJD Homburg organizes this public running event, which includes options for both competition and participation, accommodating wheelchair athletes, walkers, Nordic walkers, casual runners, and faster runners.
The event features seven disciplines: a 0.8 km wheelchair race, a 4 km walk, a 2 km fun run, 5 km and 10 km Nordic walking, and officially measured 5 km and 10 km races for active runners. The Saarland Athletics Association sanctions the event as a public road race. The name originates from the former Fohlenhof grounds in Homburg-Schwarzenbach, the location of the youth village for over 40 years.
