レースについて
Munich Backyard begins a new 6.7 km loop each hour, with participants returning to the same course repeatedly until they are unable to continue. This is a German backyard ultra event, with similar Backyard events held in Berlin and Hamburg. The format is straightforward: proceed at your own pace, be prepared for the subsequent hourly start, and persist.
The regulations are firm, despite the communal atmosphere. Arriving late, sleeping through a start, or opting out of the next loop results in disqualification (DNF). Each participant pursues their own distance objective, ranging from a first half marathon to a personal best, but only one individual wins: the last person to finish a loop solo. The organizers emphasize the shared aspect of the race, considering runners, crew, assistants, photographers, and cheering supporters as integral to the Backyard culture.
