The HochRhön-BergTrail is a trail running event held in Hilders, within the Rhön hills of eastern Hesse. It features six courses, comprising two for children and four trail distances for adults. The event attracts runners from 16 nations, and its starting spots sell out, indicating it is more than a small local run with a few participants. Ambitious runners can also earn UTMB ranking points, adding appeal to the more challenging races for those following international trail running.
The adult courses begin with a 5-kilometer trail covering 140 meters of elevation gain. The distances then increase to 14 kilometers with 520 meters of climbing and 29 kilometers with 800 meters of climbing. Benedikt Beck established the event. He is a capable runner and operates a fourth-generation orthopedic, analysis, shoe, and sports business in Hilders, a family enterprise for 120 years. This background provides the race with a grounded local connection, originating from someone knowledgeable about running, footwear, injuries, and the host town.
