The Neuburger Silvesterlauf takes runners through the Englischer Garten in Neuburg an der Donau on New Year's Eve. The TSV 1862 Neuburg athletics department, based at its sports facility on Flachslandenstrasse, organizes the event. This is a short, local race day, not a long-distance challenge, featuring separate starts for children, pupils, youth runners, and adults. Bambini and U10 pupils compete over 0.6 km, older pupils in the U12 to U16 age groups run 2.7 km, and youth U18/U20 along with adults participate in the 6 km main event.
The main race is designed for recreational runners. Organizers welcome participants from other sports like ball games, gymnastics, and swimming, not exclusively athletics club members. Route details are available online, but the core information is that the adult race covers six kilometers, beginning at the TSV sports facility and connecting to the Englischer Garten and the town. The race has been held since 1975, starting with ten participants in its first edition. It has only skipped two editions because of the Corona pandemic. A recent event saw 611 runners, with 519 in the 6 km race, and the TSV grounds provide a family atmosphere to conclude the year.
