The 24 Hours of Halen is a 24-hour run in Lotte, North Rhine-Westphalia, utilizing a measured 1,435-meter loop. This private running event allows each participant to determine their distance within the time limit, accommodating various goals such as a marathon, 50 km, 100 km, or personal targets. The race adheres to the regulations of 100 Marathonclub Deutschland and the DUV, with laps manually tallied instead of relying on GPS watch data.
The course crosses a residential area, requiring adherence to standard road traffic rules during laps. While most of the loop is illuminated, approximately 150 meters remain unlit, adding a practical challenge during nighttime hours. The aid station offers a straightforward, participant-focused selection: salt pretzels, jelly beans, cola, cake, water, baked goods, malt beer, chocolate, and warm soup available in the evening. All finishers are awarded a certificate, with an extra surprise for those completing 50 km or 100 km.
