レースについて
The Airport Race in Hamburg directs runners along a 10-mile circuit surrounding Hamburg Airport, lending the event its straightforward name. This international road race in Germany, typically held in early or mid-September, has taken place annually since 1984. While the initial two races covered 15 km, the primary event now spans 16.09 km. A 5 km run is also offered, alongside Mini Airport Races of 1 mile for children aged 7 to 13 and 400 meters for those aged 3 to 6.
The course circles the airport once counter-clockwise, emphasizing a distinct, single-loop route over urban exploration. The Lufthansa Sportverein hosts the event, with the start area featuring live music and a group warm-up before runners depart. Airport Race also inaugurates the hella Laufcup Hamburg, a three-race late-summer series that proceeds with the Alsterlauf (10 km) and the Volkslauf durch das schöne Alstertal (half-marathon). The event maintains a Hall of Fame for records; the quickest listed 10-mile times are 49:11 for men, set by David Walters, and 58:01 for women, by Michaela Möller.
