Alb-Run centers on the Alb Marathon in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany: a 50 km ultramarathon in October with approximately 1,100 meters of elevation gain. Since 1991, the event has attracted hundreds of runners annually. It also provides shorter and more challenging alternatives, such as a 25 km race, the 37 km Alb Trail, and an Alb Ultra covering about 60 km.
The primary 50 km course ascends the Three Emperors Mountains: Hohenstaufen, Rechberg, and Stuifen. The Alb Trail presents a demanding trail run, spanning roughly 37.6 km with over 1,300 meters of ascent, three aid stations, and a 6 hour 30 minute cut-off. The weekend commences Friday evening with a briefing for the trail races, featuring visuals and brief videos, followed by a pasta meal for participants seeking a straightforward pre-race dinner.
