The Ampermarathon Olching is a spring marathon in Olching, west of Munich, starting at the Amperverband on Josef-Kistler-Weg. It is a small local race rather than a huge city marathon, with entries capped in the few hundreds and places filling up. The program includes the full 42.195 km marathon, a relay marathon, a 14 km one-third marathon, and a 28 km two-thirds marathon.
The course follows the Amper river through the Amperauen from Olching toward Dachau and back. Runners use a GPS-measured loop of 14.065 km, so marathoners run it three times while shorter-distance runners do fewer laps. The route is flat and uses a mix of gravel and asphalt paths through the Amper meadows. The race is organized by runners from the Bürgervereinigung Schwaigfeld in Olching, and spectators are welcome along the course.
