The Auf den Spuren von Helmut Niemeier-BSV-Brevet begins at the BSV Hamburg headquarters, located at Wendenstrasse 120 in Hamburg. It provides three straightforward cycling routes: a brevet of approximately 200 km, a mini brevet of approximately 120 km, and a Landeszielfahrt of approximately 80 km. The longest route commences at 8:00 AM, with the two shorter routes starting at 9:00 AM. Participants can pay the 10 euro entry fee with cash on the day of the event or make a bank transfer beforehand to reserve their spot.
The event day is organized with simplicity in mind. Coffee and breakfast will be available starting at 7:30 AM, and food at the start/finish point is covered by the entry fee. Participants receive water, isotonic drinks, coffee, and sandwiches at the start. However, there are no checkpoints or additional aid stations along the routes, meaning riders must manage their own refills. The organizer supplies a list detailing useful stops in various villages, such as bakeries, kiosks, farm shops, restaurants, and supermarkets including Lidl, REWE, EDEKA, Penny, and NORMA. Upon finishing, BSV Hamburg will offer fresh coffee, cake, and fruit from 1:00 PM.
